ELLENDALE — A 26-year-old Ellendale female was charged with felony weapon offense following an assault investigation Wednesday, Delaware State Police said.

According to authorities, at approximately 8:55 a.m., troopers were dispatched to a residence on the 20000 block of Orchard Road. When troopers arrived, police said, they made contact with a 29-year-old Millsboro male who was bleeding from a cut on his arm.

Police determined that Briana Diedrich, an acquaintance of the male, cut him with a machete. After being cut, police said, the male was able to get away and call 911.

The male did not request medical treatment for his injury, police said.

Authorities said Ms. Diedrich was taken into custody without incident. While on scene, troopers were able to recover the machete, police said.

Ms. Diedrich was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second-degree assault, aggravated menacing and terroristic threatening. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $33,000 cash bond.
