Drennen: DC residents feel safer with National Guard

Posted

A recent article in the Daily State News just furthers the point of bias (“Over 40% of arrests in DC law enforcement surge relate to immigration, analysis finds,” Sept. 12). The two journalists try to put an immigration spin on the crime in Washington, D.C.

The takeover by the National Guard frees up local enforcement to focus on other crimes. If, by doing this, they find people who are not in the country legally, then arrests are made. The main takeaway that these journalists fail to realize is that crime went down. People who live in Washington feel safer, and they can walk the streets with a smaller fear of crime.

One can only assume these journalists don’t live in the city but view it from afar, with statistics.
