I am writing to explain why I am supporting New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer for governor. In short, I met Matt several years ago in his capacity as executive. I was working with Matt to get several programs started in New Castle County, including programs for renewable energy, electric vehicles and clean energy financing. The programs were implemented and important but not as important as what I saw in Matt Meyer: an executive who can get things done. As a local government and nonprofit executive with over 30 years’ experience, I recognize talent, and I saw talent in Matt.
Matt is a former Wilmington public school teacher, who grew up in Delaware. In 2017, Matt was elected as New Castle County executive, leading Delaware’s largest local government. As county executive, Matt has an unprecedented record of success delivering results for working families. From making historic investments in education to reducing gun violence by nearly 50%, Matt has proven that the government can still work for the people. Matt believes that Delawareans deserve real plans and real results. He is running for governor to fix our state’s education system, create more affordable housing and expand access to high-quality health care.
Please join me in supporting Matt Meyer for governor in the upcoming primary.
