Delaware State Police investigating New Castle shooting

NEW CASTLE — Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning.

State police said at approximately 1:19 a.m., troppers responded to a warehouse complex at the 2400 block of Bear Corbitt Road for a report of shots fired. Troopers locared an unsanctioned car meet had taken place and several shell casings on the ground in addition to fireworks scraps.

SA 21-year-old man reported to police that his car had been struck by gunfire while it was unoccupied, while a second vehicle was also struck and occupied by a 21-year-old man, 20-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman.

No injuries were reported, though no suspect description has been available, state police said.

The Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is still investigating this incident. Anyone with information regarding the incident is advised to contact Detective R. Strecker by calling 302-365-8413.
