Delaware State Police investigating armed robbery in New Castle

NEW CASTLE — Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 2:45 a.m., Delaware State Police reported that an unknown black male suspect approached a 52-year-old man in the parking lot of Wells Fargo located at 1501 N Dupont Highway.

According to state police, the suspect displayed a firearm and demanded money from the victim while threatening to shoot him. Once the victim complied, the suspect fled from the parking lot on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

State police said responding troopers attempted to find the suspect in the surrounding area but were unable to locate him.

The 52-year-old victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a young black male wearing dark colored clothing.

The Troop 2 Robbery Unit is investigating this incident. Detectives are asking for anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective R. Kirchenbauer by calling 302-365-8428. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
