The fuel assessment fee, as written, is not fair to owners of non-plug-in hybrids.
We have a hybrid that was purchased last March. The difference in gas purchases is about 50% less than what we used to buy. So, we will be paying more road taxes than any other alternative fuel vehicle.
Why wasn’t a sliding scale developed — for example, non-plug-in hybrids pay 50% of the fee, instead of full amount?
