Blades man charged with felony DUI

SEAFORD — A 56-year-old Blades man was charged with felony DUI and resisting arrest following a vehicle pursuit Tuesday.

According to Delaware State Police spokeswoman Cpl. Amina Ali, at approximately 8:05 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a black Chevrolet Silverado traveling west on Concord Road, in the area of Sussex Highway. The officer recognized the driver as Christopher Waller and confirmed through a computer check that he has a suspended driver’s license.

Waller disregarded the trooper’s attempts to stop the truck and continued driving to his residence in the 100 block of East Second Street, Cpl. Ali said. After Waller stopped the vehicle in his yard, he complied with commands and was taken into custody.

He subsequently behaved in an erratic manner and with signs of impairment, police said. A second computer check showed he has three prior DUI convictions.
Waller was charged with fourth-offense DUI, disregarding a police officer’s signal, resisting arrest, driving while suspended and failure to have insurance in possession.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $9,020 cash bond.
