In a recent article by Mike Finney, it was reported that Mayor Robin Christiansen is preparing a major fireworks display for Dover’s 2026 Fourth of July celebration, in honor of the United States’ 250th anniversary.
While such festivities are appropriate, a more pressing reality demands attention: the persistent surge in criminal activity throughout Dover.
Crimegrade.org has given the city an “F” rating and estimates that crime will cost the average Dover household nearly $2,000 in 2025.
If these challenges continue to go unaddressed, Dover risks becoming a less desirable place to live, work, and invest—casting a long shadow over any future celebrations.
