The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission is seeking input from the public on the Atlantic striped bass management plan.
The commission will hold a virtual public hearing March 10 from 6-8 p.m. to hear feedback on proposed changes to the plan.
Draft Amendment 7 suggests solutions to management triggers like population indicators that would require ASMFC to take action on recreational-release mortality, stock rebuilding plans and conservation equivalency. This allows states to develop their own measures that equal those required by ASMFC’s fisheries management plan.
Registration for the hearing is here under the Calendar tab. The commission will also post a recording of the presentation on the commission’s YouTube page prior to the hearing. The draft is also available on the website.
Stakeholders can submit comment at any time until 11:59 p.m. April 15. They should be sent to Emilie Franke at 1050 N. Highland St., Suite 200 A-N, Arlington, VA 22201; faxed to 703-842-0741; or emailed to comments@asmfc.org (with “Draft Amendment 7” in the subject line).
