RESPONSES TO QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Are you an online or in-person shopper?

Posted

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, holiday shopping season is in full swing. What percentage of your seasonal purchasing takes place at local stores versus online sites? What are your greatest concerns when buying items on the internet? Do you worry about delivery times, returns or other obstacles?

  • I shop online for about 90%. Every so often, you can find something nice in stores. The sad truth is, I looked at a toy aisle last week for the first time in a long time, and (1.) I was the only one going up and down the aisles, and (2.) The toy selections were slimmed down compared to 15-20 years ago. There really was not a great selection of anything, except board games, Barbies, Hot Wheels and Legos. I was looking for toys corresponding with superheroes/villains, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and popular cartoons of today. You are better off buying online; there’s better selection, and you can find better prices. — Tiffany Rumbley
