Appointee will fill Dagsboro council seat

Posted

DAGSBORO — C.J. Shortridge will be appointed to a vacant Town Council seat during its Monday meeting.

Mr. Shortridge, an appointee chosen by Mayor William Chandler III, is scheduled to take the oath of office, administered by Dagsboro’s solicitor Greg Morris.

Town administrator Cindi Brought said the mayor has discussed the appointment with other council members.

The vacancy was created when longtime Councilman/Mayor Brian Baull announced in March that he was stepping down to focus on his family. He served 10 years on the governing body, eight as its chosen mayor.

Mr. Shortridge will serve the remainder of Mr. Baull’s term, which will expire with the municipal election in December 2025. The council terms of Jason Russell and Carol Thompson also expire at that time.

This year, the terms of Mayor Chandler and Norwood Truitt end.

Each council position is for two years.

Monday’s meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the Bethel Center on Clayton Street.
