QUANTICO — Susan Zimmer will play an Advent Organ Concert at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Quantico, Md., on Sunday, December 14, at 4 p.m. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served in the Parish Hall following the concert. The church is located at 6457 Quantico Road.

Ms. Zimmer is the Organist and Choir director at Wicomico Presbyterian Church in Salisbury, where she was recently honored for 25 years of service. She is on the faculty of the Department of Music at Salisbury University, where she also serves as staff accompanist and instructor in organ. She holds a Master of Music in Performance and Sacred Music from Yale University, a Master of Music Education from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Music Performance from Texas Tech University.

The digital organ at St. Philip's was made in Holland by the Johannus Organ Company. The stop list includes 47 voices, 7 orchestral solos, and 40 wood, brass, string, percussion, and organ voices. Each of the four Divisions has eight pistons and the three manual console includes eight general pistons and 100 levels of memory. The seven separate channels of audio, each with its own speaker, creates a bright and luscious sound in the 100 year old church building.

The organ was dedicated in 2012 and is the only Johannus on the Delmarva Peninsula. The Rev. Nathaniel Pierce, Worship Leader at St. Philip's, commented: "It is always an exciting occasion when a very talented musician plays a concert on our Johannus Organ."
