WESTOVER — The Maryland Science Center is hosting SAILS program students in grades 3-7 and their parents to a Family Science Night at Somerset Intermediate school 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3. Participants will circulate through eight hands-on STEM-based stations and get their “passports” stamped after completing each course.

SAILS stands for Somerset Achievement Intervention Literacy STEM and students receive individualized assistance in reading and math, character education, healthy lifestyle choices and STEM, which is shorthand for science, technology, engineering and math. Students from Woodson, Greenwood and Princess Anne elementary schools will be bused to the event to join their counterparts from SIS. The program is coordinated by Tony Bevilacqua.

This will be food provided by students of the culinary arts class at the J.M. Tawes Technology & Career Center, under the direction of Jim Washington.
