PRINCESS ANNE — A Pocomoke City man already charged by the State Police with extortion and second degree assault stemming from an incident on Dividing Creek Road was arrested by Princess Anne Police for first degree burglary.

Kendall Garzette Norman, 53, was arrested Sept. 26 following a burglary complaint from a resident in the Beckford Manor subdivision. The investigation revealed Norman had been approaching residents in the neighborhood about washing their vehicles. He returned to one home and entered through an unlocked door and attempted to steal a pocketbook when the homeowner discovered him in the residence, police reported.

Norman fled but was located by officers. He was charged with first, third and fourth degree burglary, and theft less than $1,000 and held on $50,000 bond.

In the fall of 2015 Norman offered to clean the gutters for a fee at a home in Dividing Creek, and while he did that task he returned on four or five different occasions despite the 74-year-old woman at the house telling him his services were no longer needed. On Jan. 14 he came around again, according to the MSP, and demanded payment for another job but the woman said she only had $10 and told him to leave.

While he cleaned the gutters, Norman demanded the cash and a $60 check, grabbing the woman’s wrist and telling her to pay him or he would not leave. She did, and tried to cancel the check later but it had already been cashed, stated the police report. In that case Norman was charged with second degree assault, extortion and trespassing and his Sept. 28 court date has since been moved to Oct. 21.

Investigators in the Princess Anne case are asking residents if they have had any contact with Norman over any similar situations, or seen him or his bright red four-door Chevrolet in the Princess Anne area on Sept. 26. If so contact the PAPD at 410-651-1822.
