Kathryn Barrett-Gaines, Ph.D., a longtime associate professor in the Department of Social Sciences, will again lead the tour. She will talk about buildings and people long gone from the institution.

“During the tour, Barrett-Gaines will guide students, faculty, alumni, and members of the local community on a historical tour through UMES's phenomenal growth from its humble beginnings as Princess Anne Academy, comprising nine students on one acre of land, to its current state with nearly 3,000 students on more than 1,000 acres of land,” a university spokesperson said.

The tour is part of Founders' Week, Sept. 8-13, and starts in front of Kiah Hall, the home of the former Somerset High School.
