Reverend G. Kim Gilson, a Methodist minister for the past four decades who previously served Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield, was seriously injured in an accident involving a drunk driver while heading to Myrtle Beach over Easter for a vacation. Traveling with two foreign-exchange students, their car was hit and demolished some 30 miles from their destination.

The students sustained minor injuries but are okay. Pastor Kim was rushed to a trauma center in Myrtle Beach and has been in the ICU ever since. He has extensive injuries, including 22 broken ribs, fractures of both clavicles and fractures in his upper back.  His team of doctors expects him to be hospitalized for months. He is more than 500 miles from his home in Wilmington, Del., alone in a hospital bed far from his support system of family, friends and parishioners.

His road to recovery will be long, painful and expensive. A family member will need to be with him during his hospitalization, his medical bills are piling up and the travel and loss of work have put an incredible strain on his family. That is why a Go Fund Me account has been established.
