The simple interior of the Wilson-Butler Tabernacle keeps parishioners focused on the message and music of the annual Camp Meeting.

EWELL — The 130th Smith Island Camp Meeting is July 31 through Aug. 7 at the tabernacle in Ewell with The Freemans the opening musical entertainment 2 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 31. On the final day, Sunday, Aug. 7, The Bowling Family will sing also at 2 and 7. Bryan Tyler from Crisfield will lead the song service for the week. During the weekdays the service is at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Vacation Bible School is taking place also at 7. There is no service on Saturday, Aug. 6.

On opening day, the testimony meeting begins 10 a.m. with morning worship at 10:30 with Pastor Labron Palmer of Living Hope Ministries in Crisfield presiding. The Freemans will sing at 2 and 7.

The Freemans are

Misty now has a family of her own with her husband, Bryce, and Adelaide and the newest addition, Lincoln. Caylon is enjoying the benefits of his calling and career as an accomplished musician, devoted band member, and singer as well. Misty and Caylon are committed followers of the Christ they sing about each night.

Joe Freeman, Darrell's cousin, brings the fullness of The Freemans full circle. Joe is an amazing keyboardist and has a distinctive voice which blends perfectly with every song The Freemans sing. He solidifies what every gospel music lover waits to hear, harmony at a premium. His gentle spirit and genuine heart are truly one of a kind.

The final day of Camp Meeting is Sunday, Aug. 7 and Pastor Labron Palmer returns to preach at 10:30 a.m. with The Bowling Family singing at 2 and 7. This talented group consists of Mike Bowling, his wife Kelly, their daughter Hope and long-time friend Troy Peach. They combine talent, sincerity and experience in celebration of the Christian message.

The Bowling Family has appeared on the Gaither Homecoming series concerts and videos, TBN, during Gospel Music Week’s Dove Awards, at GMA’s Seminar in the Rockies and numerous other major events. Their debut release, Faith To Believe, has garnered a record four number one songs (“We Have A Saviour,” “Your Cries Have Awoken The Master,” “A Miracle Today” and “Notified”), as well as the 2008 Song of the Year (“Your Cries Have Awoken The Master").
