CAMBRIDGE — The Vikings’ record climbed to 14-4 on Thursday, when Cambridge-South Dorchester beat North Caroline, 59-46. The Bulldogs fell to 3-11.

The game began with a wide Vikings’ lead. With just over half the first quarter gone, the Bulldogs were down 12-3 and coaches called a time out to get a handle on the situation.

They did, and the period ended with a 17-14 C-SD advantage. That put the Bulldogs within striking distance, and they made the most of it, taking their first lead 18-17, at the 5:48 mark of the second quarter.

Logan Middleton put an exclamation mark on the first half, sinking a long-distance 3-pointer as the clock expired, leaving the tally at 28-26 in favor of the Vikings.

Maybe these young men are trying to start a tradition. Vejon Ashley slammed a thunderous dunk to end the third period at 40-38, C-SD leading. Judging by the reaction of the fans - led by a particularly rowdy parents’ section - the crowd approves of this new trend.

In the fourth quarter, the Vikings finally pulled ahead, seeming to overcome a bit of fatigue, after playing two days in a row. The C-SD men also beat Queen Anne’s County, 64-46, in a Wednesday game.

The Vikings’ offense was led by Davion Ralph, with 13 points. Also scoring were Jyquan Farrare, 11; Khalik Beasley, 9; VeJon Ashley and Logan Middleton, 6 each; Tyonbre McKnight, 5; Tranell Clanton and Alex Clayton, 4 each; and Malik Ennals, 1.

The high scorer for the Bulldogs was Kendron Wayman, with 20.
Cambridge-South Dorchester’s next game will be Thursday, when the Mardela Warriors come to town. Varsity game time is 6 p.m.
