CAMBRIDGE — Tre’ Lake was a one-man wrecking crew Friday night, scoring five touchdowns as the Cambridge-South Dorchester Vikings easily handled the Washington Jaguars, 49-14, in a homecoming win.

The senior running back and linebacker did not let the intermittent rain and strong winds bother him. He scored four touchdowns running the ball in the first half behind a stout offensive line and picked up his fifth TD on defense when he recovered a Washington fumble in the third quarter and ran it in 16 yards for a score.

Lake finished the game with 187 yards rushing on 20 attempts, accounting for all but 140 of the Vikings’ 327 yards on offense. His longest run came in the second quarter when he ran for a 65-yard touchdown.

Lake currently leads the Bayside 1A Conference in rushing yards (1,273), touchdowns (22) and scoring (136).

When Lake did not have the ball, running back Taj Mollock gave Washington plenty to be concerned with, rushing for 104 yards on six carries and a first-quarter touchdown. Quarterback Tyler Harding relied on the running game to carry the team, but threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jacob Morris in the third quarter for the game’s final score. Harding finished the game going two-for-three on passing attempts for 14 yards. He was sacked once.

On defense, the Vikings were able to curtail Washington’s running game after a first-quarter rushing touchdown cut the Vikings lead to 14-7, forcing Washington quarterbacks Eric Ballard and Travelle Jones to attempt to bring their team back via the air. While Ballard, who went 8-for-20 in passing attempts for 78 yards, was able to throw for a second-quarter touchdown which brought the score to 21-14 Vikings, Washington went scoreless the rest of the game. Jones was two-for-three on passing attempts for 56 yards and ran for 54 yards.

Washington running back Travelle Jones, who entered the game second in Bayside 1A in rushing yards behind Lake, was held to 54 yards on nine attempts.

All total, the Vikings held Washington to 296 yards of offense. They registered three fumble recoveries, including Lake’s touchdown return, and had sacks recorded by Brandon Tibbs and Curtis Stanton. Tibbs and Morris led the Vikings defense with six tackles each.

C-SD improves to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the Bayside 1A Conference. Washington falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
