CAMBRIDGE — Well, we’re gonna do this at least one more week.

Come on, Kent County.

Cambridge-South Dorchester High School Vikings football advanced in the Region 1A East playoffs Friday, beating the Bohemia Manor Eagles, 35-8 in Viking Stadium.

The Vikings’ defense began to take charge early in the game. Bo Manor got the opening kickoff, but fumbled on the drive, with C-SD recovering. Running backs Emory Wongus and Tre’ Lake ran for first downs, leading to a Terry Wilson leaping catch for first and goal from the six-yard line. On second and goal from the five, Emory ran it in for the game’s first score at the 4:54 mark of the quarter.

The Eagles’ next drive featured a break-away run by Devin Thompson, who carried the ball to the C-SD 22. But the Vikings’ defense stiffened, and four plays later, the Eagles turned it over on downs early in the second quarter.

The Vikings next drive ended with a punt, and it looked like Bohemia’s following drive would too.

Bo Manor tried a little trickery on a fake punt, but the throw fell incomplete and C-SD took over on the Eagles’ 30. This led to a TD by receiver James Smith, to make the score 14-0 with 9:40 to go in the quarter.

Down by two scores at the beginning of the second half, the visitors were still in the game. But Emory Wongus ripped the Eagles’ defense with strong running, including a touchdown at 8:19 in the third quarter.

It was all downhill from there for Bohemia Manor, as the Eagles fumbled on their next possession - C-SD inside linebacker Ryheem Johnson scooped up the ball and ran in for a TD and a score of 28-0 halfway through the quarter.

The Eagles’ next possession ended with an interception, after which the Vikings turned it over on downs at Bo Manor’s 21-yard line. But on the first play of their series, the Eagles fumbled and C-SD recovered. This led to the Vikings’ final score, on third and goal from the 10, with a throw to Terry Wilson with 11:50 left to play.

With a running clock, time began to tick away quickly as C-SD’s Head Coach Jake Coleman put in his backups.

Bohemia Manor avoided a shutout with seven minutes left in the game, when running back Justin Frey scored. A successful 2-point attempt reached the game’s final score of 35-8.

With Kent County having beaten Havre de Grace on Friday, 40-34, this Friday’s game at Viking Stadium is set. The Trojans visited Cambridge in the second week of the season, and lost a hard-fought game 23-14.
