OCEAN CITY – Members of Team Choptank let their Delmarva rivals know who’s boss on Saturday, as the Dorchester County bowlers won the United States Bowling Congress Eastern Shore Cup for the second year in a row.

The team is based at the Choptank Bowling Center in Cambridge. Ten members headed to Ocean Lanes Bowling Center in Ocean City, arriving at 9:30 a.m. to begin an eight-hour day of singles, Scotch doubles and two team games.

With each member bowling one frame in the team game, “The win is shared equally,” Missy LeCompte said. “We were so excited.”

The cup itself had occupied a special place in the Cambridge lanes, but, “We had to return it to the association secretary before the tournament began,” Ms. LeCompte said.

But now it’s back, much to the relief of the dedicated Dorchester bowlers, who still found time to praise their friendly rivals.

Team Choptank member Sheila Hawthorne said in a post on social media, “Shout out to all the teams that we had to roll against today to take the cup back to Choptank: Easton Bowling Center, Ocean Lanes, Southbound Alley, and Eastern Shore Lanes you guys did not make it easy, but I am glad for it!"
