Something for everyone at Family Fun Day on May 30

CAMBRIDGE — May 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is Family Fun Day at Pleasant Day, 2474 Cambridge Beltway across for the C-SDHS. The purpose of Family Fun Day is to raise money for summer activity trips for Pleasant Day participants. The Cambridge Wheels Car Club is sponsoring a Car, Truck and Bike Show, Ron Bromwell will be deejaying the Car Show and all proceeds will go to Pleasant Day Participants for trips and activities. The Cambridge City Police Department is meeting with the Family Fun Day Committee to work out the details for a Decorated Bicycle Contest for 8 to 12 year-olds from 10 a.m. to noon. There is a Family Bingo Party from noon to 2 p.m., using equipment from the South Dorchester Fire Company Auxiliaries. Shelley Abbott and Tina Krahn will be entertaining all day. The Tolley family will be volunteering, cooking up their crab cakes, along with pizza, hot dogs and French fries. There will be Hershey’s hand-dipped ice cream sponsored by Center Market and popcorn. Kitten Tyler, a designer for Origami Owl, is chair for the Direct Sales Vendors. Along with her booth for Origami Owl, ‘31,’ Mary Kaye, Avon, Longaberger will be setting up booths. Kitten has commitments for 5 more Direct Sales Vendors. Watch Face Book for more Direct Sales Vendors. The prizes for the Bingo Specials will be items donated by some of these Vendors. Of course there will be Face Painting, Clowns, Cookie Decorating as well as finger printing sponsored by the Cambridge City Police Department. Admission is free, and there is no charge for the handicapped accessible shuttle bus from C-SDHS parking lot and back again. Once again the Dorchester’s Best Bakers will be filling the Sweet for the Sweets table with everything from whole cakes and pies, candy, cookies, brownies and lots of other goodies.
