CAMBRIDGE — The Rotary Club of Cambridge ended the year following the motto all Rotary Clubs live by “Service Above Self.” Rotarians spent their time serving a complete Thanksgiving dinner to senior citizens at the Delmarva Community Service facility. Then, they were able to sit and share the meal with each other, at a time of fellowship.

Dorchester Career and Technology Center’s Culinary Class went to work in December preparing a full Christmas luncheon for clients of Pleasant Day Adult Center. Helping the Rotary Club serve the meal were members of the Cambridge-South Dorchester High School Interact Club. The Interact Club, sponsored by the Cambridge Rotary Club, is for high school-age youth. Over 100 adults were served before the Rotarians and Interactors sat and shared the meal.

The C-SDHS Interact Club has been an integral part of the Rotary Club in performing the service projects. With the largest participating membership in recent years, they have become very active in and out of school.

Ringing the Salvation Army Bell for their Red Kettle campaign was the next joint effort between the two Clubs. Interactors and Rotarians spent from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Dec. 23 ringing the bell raising money for the Salvation Army’s community projects.
