MLMS to hold Chair Art Auction and Tricky Tray

Posted

CAMBRIDGE — Based on the idea of art therapy, allowing students self-expression through painting while sharpening their artistic skills the Mace’s Lane Middle School will hold a Chair Art Auction and Tricky Tray on May 13 at tahe school.

The chairs once belonged to the music department and rather than throw them out, the school decided to refurbish the chairs and paint musicians on them who have made an impact on today’s music, such as Billie Holliday, Michael Jackson, Queen and Tupac.

The chairs are hand-painted by students, staff, and public service. The chairs are for art purpose rather than being functional. Through this process students have gained knowledge and interest in the history of music and its foundational musicians.

The event will take place on May 13, at Mace’s Lane Middle School, 1101 Mace’s Lane, Cambridge. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the live auction will take place at 2 p.m. with a tricky tray auction at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

All money raised will support the Mace’s Lane Band and Art After School Program.

You must be present to win.
