CAMBRIDGE — Wednesday Morning Artists are bringing snowflakes, “zillions” of them, to Opening Night. Opening Night is a one evening gala that the Wednesday Morning Artists present a few times each year at the Dorchester Arts Center. It is free and open to the public.

“Night of a Zillion Snowflakes” will take place on Dec. 13 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and will accompany the Wednesday Morning Artists’ own Small Works and Other Good Things Show that will be in the galleries of the Dorchester Center for the Arts during the month of December. Art pieces in this show are specially chosen and priced for holiday gift-giving.

The snowflakes will be large, small, tiny, glass, paper, yarn, painted, sprayed, curled, rounded, pointed, flat, three-dimensional, white, silver, hanging, floating and, more. In addition to the lavish snowflake décor, the evening will feature specially prepared light appetizers, drawings for new art center memberships, and other fun and educational activities. At the conclusion of this evening, the winning ticket for the Wednesday Morning Artists-made queen-size Diamond Jubilee quilt will be drawn. The pieces of this quilt were cut in the 1970s then stored away and forgotten until now. Jean and Jim Browne, Terry White, Deborah Coffin Kennedy, and Mary Ellen Jesien have worked diligently to solve the puzzle of the pattern and to piece the quilt together and to finish it. The assembled queen-size Diamond Jubilee quilt can be seen in the front windows of Hunt Insurance Company at 436 Race St.

Wednesday Morning Artists is currently conducting a raffle for the quilt. Tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5 and will be sold from now through Dec. 13.
