North Dorchester gets 1st-place high school band

CAMBRIDGE – Organizers of the Cambridge-Dorchester County Christmas Parade on Monday announced division winners and band awards. The parade is not only a celebration of the season and entertainment for the crowds along the route, but is a competition as well.

“Thanks everyone for the patience and day of rest,” a statement from organizers said. “We’re still tallying a few donations that came in over the weekend. More to come on that later. Thanking those who support the parade is very important to us!”

The event draws visitors from around the region for Christmastime fun.

“Best parade,” Christina Campbell posted online. “Second year I have come from Glen Burnie to this parade and definitely enjoyed it.”

Lisa Mae, as she is known online, is active in Snow Hill High School’s band. She wrote, “Thanks so much for having our band, it’s still the friendliest crowd of any parade we attend!”

Division winners were:

Non-commercial Adult Float – Dorchester EMS

Non-commercial Youth Float – Girl Scout Troop 131

Commercial Float – Dorchester Dumpin’

Royalty – National Outdoor Show, Miss Outdoors

Marching Unit on Foot – New Creation Marching Unit

Fire Department – Rescue Fire Company

Antique Auto – Connor Pierzchalski

Classic Auto – Johnny’s Tavern

School Sponsored Club – Mace’s Lane Middle School TigerNettes

Judge’s Choice – Eastern Shore Dance Academy

Band Awards

Best Band Overall – Snow Hill High School – Score 95.9

1st Place High School – North Dorchester High – Score 92.5

2nd Place High School – Mardela Middle & High – Score 91.6

3rd Place High School – Crisfield High – Score 87.0

1st Place Middle School – Salisbury Middle – Score 77.1

2nd Place Middle School – North Dorchester Middle – Score 75.1

Best Drum Major – Crisfield High School

Best Band Front – North Dorchester Middle

Best Percussion – Mardela Middle & High
