CAMBRIDGE — It got off to a fast start, and there was no looking back for the Cambridge-South Dorchester junior varsity football team on Monday, when the Vikings walloped Nandua, 54-6.

The Warriors received the opening kickoff after C-SD won the toss and deferred. Malik Ennals recovered a Nandua fumble, and three plays later, running back Lamont Jackson carried the ball into the end zone on second and goal from the four-yard line.

The Warriors’ next possession also ended with a turnover, when Shamar Young picked off a throw. The first play after the change of possession was a Logan Middleton run for a TD. A missed extra point left the score at 13-0.

Viking tight end Jacob Smith grabbed a 50-yard throw from quarterback JyQuan Farrare for Smith’s first touchdown of the season. This score was followed by Ethan Bloodsworth’s scoring run from midfield - and that was all in the first quarter.

On the first play of the second quarter, Farrare kept the ball for a 35-yard run and score. The next Vike into the end zone was Malik Ennals, who raised the tally to 41-0 at the half.

With the Vikings ahead by more than 35 points, the clock ran continuously as soon as the second half began. The Warriors scored with 5:30 left in the third quarter. After a failed 2-point conversion, the score was 41-6. Malik Ennals sprinted 50 yards for the next C-SD points, as the third period wound down.

The Vikings’ final score came when Camren Lake charged up the middle for a touchdown with 5 seconds remaining. The Vikings let the clock run out without attempting an extra point.
