Godwin Jr., 61 FRANKFORD - Woodrow Wilson Godwin Jr., 61, of Frankford, departed this life at home on April 14, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Godwin was called "Sonny" or 'Horn" by his closest friends and relatives. Sonny was born on Jan. 16, 1951, in Stockton, Md., to the late Woodrow Wilson Godwin Sr. and Sara Jeanette Godwin. He was the 3rd of 5 children. In addition to his parents, Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Godwin, also known as Bonnie, and a special nephew, Terrence L. Mumford. Mr. Godwin served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1975. He also was a Vietnam War Veteran. Mr. Godwin was employed by the DuPont Company in Seaford, for 23 years and worked for the Stockley Center in Georgetown, for 5 years until his illness forced him to retire. Those left to cherish his wonderful memories are a devoted and loving wife of 36 years, Loveie M. Godwin or Frankford; one daughter, Ronchelle S. Godwin of Millsboro; one son, Timothy O. Slade of Bear; two sisters, JoAnn Gibbs (Johnny Gibbs Sr.) of Georgetown, and Gloria Groman of Dagsboro; one brother, Otha Godwin of Atlantic, Va.; two aunts, Phyllis Cropper of Wilmington, and Mamie Godwin of Ellendale; five sisters-in-law, Edith I. Wescott of Milford, Phyllis S. Thomas of Dover, Sheila M. Slade of Georgetown, Wynita E. Slade of Georgetown, and Sabrina A. Brandy (James A. Brandy) of Frederica; one brother-in-law, Fred Slade of Felton; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Millboro. Services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Bishopville, Md., at noon, where friends may gather for a second visitation two hours prior. Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millboro, on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. Letters of condolence can be sent to Bennie Smith Funeral Home 717 W.
