Wilmer Wilson Jackson

Greensboro - Wilmer Wilson Jackson passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover surrounded by his family. He was born on July 23, 1923 in Goldsboro to the late Courtland and Ethel Quillen Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a 1939 graduate of Greensboro High School. He married his wife the former Elnora Bishop on June 14, 1962. Mr. Jackson had worked for Greensboro Packers for many years, operated his own grocery store and was an insurance agent for Equitable Life Insurance Company. He had been a coach for the local Little League and enjoyed gardening. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Jackson; brother, Robert Jackson; and sister, Ethelyn Hughes. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elnora Jackson; son, Gary Jackson and wife, Decca of Spring, Texas; daughters, Karen Richter and husband, Tim, of Goldsboro and Kimberly Wooters and husband, Alfred, of Denton; six grandchildren, Lynn Whelan, Jason Richter, Amy Richter, Hannah Whelan, Gary Jackson, Jr. and Danny Jackson, and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mr. Jackson will be on Wednesday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro. A visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greensboro Cemetery following the service.
