Willis Jeffery Carney Sr.

Dover - Willis Jeffery Carney, Sr. "Sonny" of Dover passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Kent General Hospital. Mr. Carney was born Nov. 15, 1932 in Cheswold, Delaware to the late Return Carney and Ola Beckett Carney. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. Mr. Carney worked for Tenui in New Castle, Delaware. He was a member of the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church in Cheswold. Mr. Carney enjoyed vegetable gardening, camping, working with his John Deere Tractor and going to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Wildwood, New Jersey and a few other places. Mr. Carney is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anita L. Harmon Carney of Dover; son, Jeffery Carney of Dover; daughter, Debbie Stafford and her husband Chris of Smyrna and grandson, Justin Stafford; sisters, Betty Seeney of Kenton, Ann Seeney of Dover and Gloria Attix of Dover; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and his beloved dogs, Dakota and Ace. Funeral services will be held 12PM, Friday April 11, 2014 at the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, 756 Main Street, Cheswold, DE 19936. Friends may call from 10-12 at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
