William W. 'Bill' Christensen

LINCOLN - William W. 'Bill' Christensen, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 81. Mr. Christensen was born on April 21, 1928 in Chester, Pa., son of the late Andrew J. and Grace (Tankersley) Christensen. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Christensen was a self employed truck driver for over 50 years, retiring in 1997. Bill was a life member of the Milford Elks Lodge 2401 and a member of the Milford Moose Lodge 2316. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Tobey; and a grandson, Stephen Spencer. He is survived by his wife, Carla Mae Jester Christensen; a son, William A. Christensen of Magnolia; a step-son, Rennie Hunt and his wife Lisa of Greenwood; two daughters, Lea Christensen of Atlanta, Ga., and Bonnie Spencer of Smyrna; a step-daughter, Liette Thomas and her husband Brett of Greenwood; an aunt, Christina Paquette of Milford; five grandchildren, Rennie Hunt, Corri Hunt, Kayla Thomas, Derek Spencer, and Courtney McQuade; and six great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Milford Elks Lodge 2401, 18951 Elks Lodge Rd., Milford. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Eagles Nest Christian Academy, 26633 Zion Church Rd., Milton, DE 19968.
