William L. Sanner Sr., 78

WILMINGTON - William L. Sanner Sr., of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 in Regal Heights Nursing Home, Hockessin. He was 78. He was born on July 26, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late William and Frances (Shahan) Sanner. William served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He retired 19 years ago from ICI. William was a charter member of the Wilmington Coin Club. Besides being an avid coin collector, he also enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and gardening. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Sanner on July 22, 2008. He is survived by two sons, William Sanner Jr. and his wife Marti of Camden and Robert Sanner and his wife Sharon of Wilmington; a sister, Lorraine Cannon of Bear; and three grandchildren, Mitchell Sanner and Robert Sanner Jr. both of Wilmington and Ashley Sanner of Camden. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
