Thompson, II, 65
On Sunday, October 23, 2022, William James Thompson, II, lovingly known as "Jay", passed away at age sixty-five. He was born to Bill and Marge Thompson in October of 1957 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
An accomplished academic athlete at The University of Delaware in his youth, Jay earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. After graduation, Jay was selected for OCS at the Naval Flight Station in Pensacola, Florida where he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of flying jets as an officer and pilot. Upon leaving the military, Jay spent at least 10 years at ILC Dover, where he met the love of his life and wife of 31 years, Renee'. Finally, Jay dedicated 20 years of service to the State of Delaware for the Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control.
A hobbyist and collector at heart, he had a love for model trains, Hot Wheels, Star Wars, and Lego toys, never afraid to show his inner child. A patient teacher, Jay could be found sharing his wisdom with close family and friends about life, relationships, love, or personal endeavors. Generous and charitable, he gave to many organizations throughout Delaware and worked to ensure those around him loved life.
Jay was best known for his quick-witted humor, fierce love for his wife and family, and generous spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Renee; daughter, Sasha; son, Michael; sister, Meg; brother, Scott; and seven grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will take at the Thompson home, Sunday, October 30, 2022 between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m.
In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able would give a charitable donation to Caring Hearts Helping Hands of Dover, DE.
