William Howard Ockels Jr.

SEAFORD - William Howard Ockels Jr. (Billy) died Wednesday October 22, 2014 at home. He was the son of the late Jean E. and William H. Ockels Sr. Billy graduated from Seaford High School in 1961 and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Laurel, where he was a member of the choir. He also sang and played the piano at area church revivals. Billy worked on the family farm where he raised chickens and had a roadside stand until losing his eyesight. He enjoyed listening to the radio, working in the garden, playing the keyboard, singing and spending time with family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Julie Ockels. He is survived by two brothers, Donald L. Ockels and James S. Ockels; three sisters, Deborah A. Massey, Joyce L. Ockels and Grace M. Stakiel, all of Seaford; and several nieces and nephews. Services will held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Watson Yates Funeral Home, Front & King Sts., Seaford, where friends may call from 1 - 2 pm, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Blades Cemetery, Blades, DE.
