William F. Hollingsworth Sr.

Hollingsworth, Sr., 86 CHURCH HILL, Md - William F. Hollingsworth, Sr. died in Dover, Del. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Born December 1, 1925, in Centreville, Md. he was the son of the late, John B. Hollingsworth, Sr. and Margaret A. Hunter Hollingsworth. He attended Centreville High School, Class of 1942. Following graduation he began working on the family farm with his father. On October 15, 1948, he married the former, Frances M. Thompson and they resided outside Centreville. He drove a school bus for Queen Anne's County for several years. Then he and his wife opened the Roberts Grocery Store. In 1971, they moved to Church Hill. He owned and operated the Mile Out Inn in Church Hill where he was affectionately known as "Daddy Bill". Three years after moving to Church Hill, in 1974, he began his own trucking company, Hollingsworth Trucking, hauling for Friel's and local farmers. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Frances Hollingsworth October 18, 2005. Mr. Hollingsworth is survived by his two sons, William F. Hollingsworth, Jr. and his wife, Dorothy of Church Hill and Gordon L. Hollingsworth and his wife, Sherry of Denton; one brother, John B. "Jack" Hollingsworth, Jr. of Dover; three grandchildren, Tracey Smith, Travis Hollingsworth and Scott Hollingsworth; three great grandchildren, Jason Smith and Christopher Smith and Henry James Hollingsworth and a special friend, E. P. Cronshaw. Funeral services will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville, Md. on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at 12 p.m. where friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will be at Church Hill Cemetery, Church Hill, MD.
