TOWNSEND - William Ditlow, III went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2013. He was in residence at the time of his passing at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware. Bill, the son of William Ditlow, Jr., & Isabel, was born in Pocomoke City, Md. on Sept. 12, 1938 and he was 74 years old at his passing. He is survived by his sister, Kathy Ditlow of Wilmington, Del.; and his two sons, William Ditlow, IV of Smyrna, Del., Robert Ditlow of Townsend, Del.; and the mother of his children, Nancy Coulbourne Ditlow. Bill in his last moments was surrounded by his two sons, Bill & Bobby and his love and companion, Ms. Julie Tall of Newark, Del. and friends. As a young man, Bill served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked at Delmarva Power for 35 yrs. and retired in 1994 as a cable splicer. Upon his retirement, Bill spent his time with his passion in the outdoors: hunting, fishing and trapping. He hunted in Alaska, Canada, the western U.S.A. and, of course, in Delaware. During this time he worked part-time as a Guide and Game Manager at the Bombay Hunt Club, near Smyrna. Near the end of his colorful life he was able to harvest his "dream deer", a 23 point buck. After that he set his deer gun down. On the day of his passing the weather was snowin' and blowin', a perfect waterfowl day. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Funeral Services will be held at Faires Funeral Home, 29 S. Main Street, Smryna, DE on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. where family and close friends may call two hours before the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will be a private Internment for family and extended family members at 1 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery at Summit, Delaware. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Delaware 19963. Letters of condolence may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
