William Clinton Short

SANDTOWN - William Clinton Short, 84, of Sandtown, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was born on May 10, 1926, in Felton, to the late Herman William and Susie Edwards Short. Mr. Short, a lifelong resident of Sandtown, was a US Marine veteran serving during Korean War. He worked construction for George Lynch Co. retiring after 26 years of service. He also farmed for most of his life. He is survived by his two daughters, Evelyn Hackman of Felton, and Bessie Butler of Milford; one son, John C. Short of Felton; his friend, Addie Pack of Harrington; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Short was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Anna Biles Short; two sons, Matthew Short and Herman Wm. Short, III; five brothers, Arthur Short, James Short, Herman Short, Jr., Clifton Short and Leon Short; two sisters, Elsie Pitlick and Ann Pizzuto; and his grandson, John William Hackman. Family and friends were received on Friday April 8, from 1 to 2 p.m., in the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W Sunset Ave, Greensboro, Md. The funeral service followed the visitation at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Greensboro Cemetery.
