William Bailey Kahl, 71 SAPULPA, Okla. - William Bailey Kahl was born June 27, 1938, at Staten Island, N.Y. He was the son of William Roe Kahl and Elizabeth Bailey Kahl. Bailey passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at his home in Sapulpa, Okla. He was 71. Bailey grew up in the Reisterstown area; he graduated from Franklin High School. After graduation, he attended Ohio University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics. After serving in the Army, he attended Washington University and Northwestern University where he earned Masters degrees in Audiology and Speech Pathology, respectively. Bailey was employed with both the State of Delaware and Appoquinimink School District as a Speech Pathologist, retiring in 1996. In his spare time, Bailey enjoyed restoring classic cars, sailing, model trains and reading. Bailey is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ardis of Sapulpa, Okla.; his sister, Penelope "Penny" Pohlman of Jupiter, Fla.; three children, William Rust Kahl and wife Sarah of Baltimore, Md., Sarah Kahl Picollelli and husband Michael of Newark, Del., John Bailey Kahl of Sapulpa, Okla.; three step-children, Brent Guthrie of Sapulpa, Okla., Michael Guthrie of Dover, Del., D. Patrick Guthrie and wife, Amanda of Dover; and one grandchild. A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 113 Lotus St., Dover. In lieu flowers donations may be made to the charity of the donors' choice.
