Upon his retirement he moved to Dover. Shortly after their arrival, Bill and his family joined Christ Episcopal Church, where he was active in a number of church and community activities. His love of life was manifested in his community involvement in the Delaware State University Athletic Boosters, and The National Association of Letter Carriers. As a faithful member of Christ Church he became involved in the men's fellowship group and lent his distinctive bass voice to making a joyful noise to God.
