William A. Ramsey, 68 MARYDEL - William A. Ramsey, of Marydel, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010. He was 68. Mr. Ramsey was born April 20, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth Johnson Ramsey. He worked at the Smyrna Rest Area for many years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Ramsey loved his dogs, enjoyed gardening, and loved working on motorcycles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Ramsey. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ramsey; a son, Dwayne Ramsey and his wife Amy of Kansas; a daughter, Veronica Lawrence and her husband Eric, also of Kansas; a stepdaughter, Cindy Chidester and her husband Ron of Indiana; a son-in-law, James Oman of Marydel; two brothers, John Ramsey and his wife Merrilyn of Smyrna, and James Ramsey and his wife Lori, also of Smyrna; two sisters, Patricia Downs of Middletown, and Gerri Thompson and her husband Harry of Smyrna; a sister-in-law, Jan Laundry of Dover; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Services and burial will be private. In memory of Mr. Ramsey, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19904. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street, Smyrna.
