West Salisbury Little League Junior League team headed to regional finals

The West Salisbury Little League Junior League team was the winner of the Maryland State Championship for 2016.

Playing in Hagerstown, the team shut out their first four opponents until the finals last Wednesday, when they defeated Talbot, 10-5.

Until that point, the team had amassed a 44-0 record shut out against the District of Columbia, St. Mary’s and Talbot in the prior round.

The next stop is the Eastern Regional’s in Freehold, N.J.

West Salisbury faces the New York State Champions in the first round on Friday at 10 a.m.

In that effort, the team will be holding several fundraisers to support the league’s effort for all of the costs associated with this journey.
