CHESTERTOWN - Warren B. McGinnis, of Chestertown, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with Cancer and Leukemia. He was 69. Mr. McGinnis was born on Oct. 4, 1941, in Chestertown. He was the son of the late Paul B. and Mary Esabella Jones McGinnis of Chestertown. He began driving a paper route when he was 16 and continued through school. In the late 60's and early 70's, he delivered petroleum products for D & R Supply Company in Chestertown. He became a professional driver for Overnight Transportation for 9 years. He then began driving for Air Products & Chemical until his retirement in 2004. Mr. McGinnis was a life member of the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company where he served in the Chief Engineer position for over 20 years. He served as a firefighter and an engineer for most of his 50 plus years of his volunteer service. In addition to his wife of 16 years, Nancy McGinnis, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa Michelle Rhodes of Chestertown; a son, Michael Todd McGinnis of Chestertown; a step-daughter, Georgette Angel Mercer of Chestertow; six grandchildren, Gregory Rhodes, Brandon McGinnis, Michael McGinnis, Kendall McGinnis, Tommy Mercer and Serena Jones; three sisters, Wilma Seaman and husband Ronnie of Woodside, Del., Mary Jo Gardner and husband Kenny of North Carolina, and Joyce Ann Coleman and husband Jerry of Chestertown; and two brothers, Wayne McGinnis and wife Madeline of Glen Burnie, and Robert McGinnis and wife Mary of Chestertown. He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Etta Masten and Dick Murphy. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, where relatives and friends may call on Friday, June 17, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the cemetery of the Calvary Chapel Church of Chestertown.
