SMYRNA - Walter Truax, also known as Walt Man and Salty, of Smyrna, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at home. He was 52. Mr. Truax was born February 2, 1959, in Dover, the son of Ruth M. Truax of Smyrna. Walter worked for many years as a mason, pipe layer, and excavator. He most recently worked for Russell Greene of Smyrna. He liked all animals, especially his 3 cats, Littleman, Smoke, and Thunder. He enjoyed hanging out with his best friends and working outside in his yard. He also enjoyed motocross racing. He was preceded in death by his son, Justin in 1985. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Linda Graybeal (Ben) of Smyrna, and Rose Truax (Bill) of Marydel, Md; a brother, Donald Truax (Carol) of Smyrna; nieces and nephew, Bryanna, Jessica, and Aaron; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends, Jeff, Rusty, Cliff, and Yvonne. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the Faries Funeral Chapel, located on 29 South Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Burial to follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Smyrna Baptist Church, PO Box 177, Smyrna, DE 19977 or to the Mamie A. Warren Senior Center, 1775 Wheatleys Pond Road, Smyrna, DE 19977.
