Walter 'Roy' Teat Sr., 72

CLAYTON - Walter "Roy" Teat Sr., passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, in Bayhealth Medical Center of Dover. He was 72. Roy was born Oct. 22, 1936 in Sudlersville, Md., the son of the late Earl and Anna Hessey Teat. He retired as a proud UAW worker for Chrysler after 30 years. Roy loved NASCAR and was an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. He also liked to fish and enjoyed going to Spence's sale in Dover with his grandson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl; and by a sister, Marion. He is survived by his wife, Nancy L. VanPelt Teat; and five children, Walt and his wife Gladys of Clayton, Jack and his wife Carrie of Ocean City, Md., Carole and her husband Charlie of Clayton, Dawn of Wilmington, and Anissa and her husband Ralf of Clayton; two grandsons, Waltie and Tiffany of Clayton, and Marcus of Ohio; a granddaughter, Justine of W.V.; five siblings, Rodney and his wife Janice of Warwick, Md., Jimmy and his wife Debbie of Cordova, Md., Lola of Dover, Helen of Dover, and Doris and her husband Chuck of Cordova; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; and his faithful buddy, his dog Jake. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour before. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 1021 Gilpin Ave., Suite 202, Wilmington, DE 19801.. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. Letters of condolence may be sent to www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
