Georgetown - Walter "June" Henry Jenkins, Jr. departed this life on Friday, May 16, 2014, at the Milford Hospice Center. Born in Millsboro, he was the son of the late Walter H. Jenkins, Sr. and Martha V. Bratten Jenkins. His wife, Shirlee C. Jenkins, also preceded him in death on October 7, 2005. Prior to retiring, he was employed by the John L. Briggs Company in Georgetown as a construction worker. He will be lovingly remembered by: two daughters, Deborah Townsend of Fruitland, MD and Onda Jenkins of Delaware City; two sons, Garry (Robin) Hopkins of Smyrna and Walter Hopkins of Seaford; two sisters, Delores Hayes of Dover and Lillie Mae Briddell of Frankford; two brothers, Harvey L. (JoAnn) Jenkins, Sr. of Frankford and William Jenkins of Chester, PA; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Hayes, and one brother, Wilson Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins will lie in repose on Friday, May 23, 2014, from 11 AM to 1 PM at St. John 2nd Baptist Church located at 26602 Mt. Joy Road in Millsboro. The funeral service will begin at 1 PM. Bishop Joyce L. Mizzelle, Pastor of Grace-N-Mercy Ministries, Inc. in Greenwood, will officiate. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Georgetown.
