Walter Elliott Saxton, 91
Walter Elliott Saxton passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Walter was born on November 4, 1932, to the late Phyllis and John Saxton in Dover.
Walt spent his life serving his country and community. Walt worked as an aircraft mechanic while stationed in Korea. After returning to the States, he began working for the Delaware State Police. He began working as a State Trooper and then started working as a Criminal Investigator. After finishing his career with the Delaware State Police, Walt worked as an Inspections Office Investigator for the City of Dover for 20 years.
Walt served as past Commander of the Delaware Veterans Post #2 (1968-69) and was a current life member. Walt was also a member of Union Lodge #7. In his free time, Walt enjoyed sketching, tinkering, and fixing anything that he could get his hands on.
In addition to his parents; Walt was preceded in death by his brother, Irvin, who was also retired DSP.
Walt is survived by his wife of 48 years, Normalea; daughter, Robyn Saxton Comegys of Dover; son, Michael (Stacey) Saxton of Dover; and granddaughter, Lauren Comegys.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. The visitation will begin at 11am. This will be followed by the interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to the Delaware State Police Museum.
