Virginia 'Penny' Paine
GEORGETOWN - Virginia "Penny" Paine a resident of Georgetown, DE, since 1971, formerly of Philadelphia, died on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, in Georgetown in a town she loved. Penny was born in Newark, N.J., the daughter of the late William E. and Florence (Swindells) Reeves, in June, 1917. She was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church. She was a member and involved in various civic organizations in the Georgetown area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Paine in 1978; and a daughter, Brooke Berg in 1972. She is survived by a son, William R. Berg of Georgetown; and three grandchildren, Will, Erik and Lenn Berg, all of California. A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
