Virginia L. (Higgins) Barton, 80

DOVER - Virginia L. (Higgins) Barton, passed away at home Monday, Sept. 28, 2009. She was 80. She was born August 1, 1929, in Kansas City, Kan., to Rheubin and Mary Ethel (Ward) Higgins. On September 17, 1954, Virginia married Kermit A. Barton, who preceded her in death in 1997. They made their home in Kansas City, Kan. for many years and then Brumley, Mo. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mildred Barton; and son-in-law, Rev. George Lane Jr. She is survived by son, Lee J. (Jim) Barton and wife Donna of Ava, Mo.; daughters, Ethel L. Matney of Dover, Karen Barton-Beller of Jefferson City, Mo., and Sarah J. Barton-Lane and companion Jacob McVey III of Jefferson City, Mo.; one granddaughter, Suzanne L. Chisholm and husband Jimmy of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one grandson, William A. Beller of Jefferson City, Mo.; two great-granddaughters, Samantha Chisholm and Heather Chisholm; one step-son and family; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation/graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2009, under the direction of Maple Hill Funeral Home, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your local Hospice or Meals-on-Wheels Program. Letters of condolences can be sent to www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
