Vernon Paul Steele

SMYRNA - Vernon Paul Steele, Sr., "Moe," passed away on Wednesday, Apr. 26, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington.
He was born Jan. 29, 1944, in Wilmington, the son of the late William and Anna May Steele.
Vernon was a small business owner his entire life. He prided himself in being independent and he always had a joke to tell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Steele; and his son, Vernon P. Steele, Jr.
He is survived by his son, Edward Steele, Sr., of Smyrna; his daughter, Loretta Lynn Garcia, of Dover; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers; four sisters; and a large extended family.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover.
