TOWNSEND - Vera A. Parsons, of Townsend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at her residence, with her family by her side. She was 82.
Born on June 16, 1925, in Galax, Va., she was the daughter of the late MacGarvey and Elizabeth (Sumner) Burcham.
Mrs. Parsons loved playing cards and going out to eat with family and friends.
She enjoyed visiting with family, especially in her hometown in Virginia.
She occasionally attended Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witness in Middletown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Parsons, in 1996; a sister; several brothers; and a great-granddaughter.
She leaves many fond memories to her three daughters, Jane Bestpitch of Newark, and Connie Alexander and Phyllis Griffith, both of Millington, Md.; four sons, Gerald Parsons of Hockessin, David Parsons of Townsend, Jeffrey Parsons of Georgetown and Russell Parsons of Florida; a brother, Lester Burcham of Virginia; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday in Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to service.
Mrs. Parsons will be laid to rest beside her husband in Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle.
